2/27

And we’re back!

below are some of the sketches of
shots I would like to incorporate in my film opening like I said in the last blog post just to give you an idea.

The first opening shot will signify a coming of age movie with the basic phone on desk and the alarm going off as the main character hits the phone the alarm goes off starting her day.

Thoughts on this shot.. is it too easy? will they think it's cheesy? Im not sure but! were gonna go with our gut here

One fun shot i’m not sure if will be able to achieve will be the girl friends driving their car and one character sticking her head out of the car.. giving the audience more of a perspective that these kids like to just live and take chances. Regular teenage actions.

Still Thinking..

What up Gomers! it’s February 25th, and last time we gathered here on the Gom Blog we talked about a solid idea for this here portfolio project, that idea is still subject to change however the main idea is staying.. I’m currently thinking of color aesthetic and what I see for this project. I see more dark undertones as if the characters are just living their lives.

The scene will open with darker tones to create a more gloomy rainy vibe, showing the audience right away that the main characters have a boring basic life at first. There will be multiple clips on the beats of maybe music? showing two friends as they go about there day. They wake up, get ready, make there breakfast, grab there bag, and leave. Then Biking off together towards a park they sit down to listen to music... as soon as they put there headphones in there transported to a different world and its blatantly clear. As the main characters eyes open there is then a sudden blackout making the viewers want more, to see where and how they were transported into a different world.

This film opening will be a coming of age thriller with a little bit of fantasy towards the ending of it because of the incorporation of the "new world". On the left here is an example of a shot I would like to get of the two main characters as they are biking.

Both characters will be teenagers just living there lives, rebelling the rules and maybe even skipping school??????ideas ideas ideas. This blog post was about the vibe I am going for, for this film and the blog posts to come will be more laid out since I have a better perspective on what I want my film opening to look like.

See you next time Gom's out.

Hear me out... :o

Y O.

WAITTTTTTTTTT GUYS.

WHAT UP GOMERS OKAY LISTEN

I am sitting in my dark kitchen, its 10:14 at night. I am just sitting here listening to all the sounds from birds chirping outside to my water dispenser. Im trying to piece together ideas because this has been bugging me all day, I have been trying sort out the ideas in my brain and see which could work and I think I found it… the basic concept is simple but adequate it can contain really cool shots and a very good analytical meanings.

Alright hear me out Gomers.. It’s a coming of age thriller about music. It is how the basic idea of music and words being sung or played can portray the feelings you cannot express on your own. Music has helped me in so many ways these past years and I feel that I could portray it in such a good way.

MUSIC CAN HELP US ESCAPE

Still thinking of a name for it but that can be put together in a later date

The scene opens up with a girl she wakes up, she eats breakfast, she grabs her bag and keys then is driving in her car. (it’s all silent there are slight noises for example ticking sounds from the car and alarm clocks etc) she walks to a coffee shop she watches as people pass and live there lives however longs for something more AND YOU CAN SEE IT IN HER EYES AS SHE LOOKS she is then seen walking to a tree at a top of a hill she sits down and puts earphones in her ears music starts playing out loud as she closes her eyes and it transports her into another universe, where a friend is seen coming up to her grabbing her hand as she follows running up the hill to other friends. They dance and run through the trees theN they all are seen laying on the ground in another shot. close up of the main girl as she closes her eyes then suddenly WIDLEY opens them and she’s back where she started at the stump of a tree with no friends to begin with…. which i think will intrigue the viewers more because was that a fantasy world? her dreaming? they will never know.

I’m overall proud of this idea and I know there will be changes to it. However, the only thing I worry about is are the people viewing this just going to role their eyes in boredom when watching my film, how does one really impress those people… but really whatever I don’t really CARE?!

Thank you for sticking with me for this part of the Gom Blog up next! we will proceed to explore how we are going to get started on this amazing project

I am so excited!

See you next time Gomers!

Brain cluster

Hi Gomers!

It is February 19th and I am having a brain cluster... I just got my wisdom teeth out two days ago and ever since then have not stopped trying to figure out an idea for this portfolio project. I have written down many random ideas but nothing has clicked, once we get back to school this week I am going to talk to Ms. Stoklosa and see if she can help me a little bit.

My Notes app on my phone has been getting many different ideas- in the car on the way to get my wisdom teeth out I heard a ticking noise from the blinker of the car... Sparked some sort of idea so I proceeded to write it down

first idea:

- Imagine a ticking noise.. playing in the back of someones mind all day long, their making breakfast and still hearing it, they take a shower and still hear it. Its a noise that does not go away however can be analyzed in different ways such as

  • anxiety that doesn't go away
  • something the person wants to achieve but cant and until then the noise won't stop
- The sound could be played with in a ton of different ways and can be analyzed by the audience and intrigue them more

Second idea:

- Now imagine different ages of some sort..child playing on swings, playground growing up prioritizing different things…different shots and angles tell different stories... basically on swings reliving parts of her or his life that they want to fix before leaving the earth

...Going further i would want to include them having a discussion with one of their past selves or even have a chance to go back to a scene of their life and redo what they want to fix.

Genre hopping

Lets go genre shopping!

I'm thinking thriller? Horror? Mystery? Drama? mhmm so many options….

THRILLER
- thriller story is mostly about the emotional purpose, which is to elicit strong emotions, mostly dealing with generating suspense and anxiety. No matter what the specific plot, the best thrillers get your heart racing. It can be psychological or even a mystery

*some examples of thrillers we can look at as examples are..

Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock

Panic room by David Fincher

DRAMA
-The drama genre is always defined by some conflict and often looks to reality rather than sensationalism. Emotions and intense situations are the focus, but where other genres might use unique or exciting moments to create a feeling, movies in the drama genre focus on common occurrences.

*some examples of drama we can look at as examples

Titanic by James Cameron

Me before you by Thea Sherrock

The very beginning

 What's up Gomers!

Today is the start of the very beginning of my portfolio project SO EXCITING

Currently sitting in class not knowing where to start so! I am just gonna write....I am so excited for this project Many ideas are in my mind for this project there is so much I could do with this but what will it be?

The first couple "simple" ideas popping into my mind is some persons routine.. them either getting ready, going to work, living there life however the difference is there is a repeat of simple shots and as the film goes on you then figure out the said "person" is reliving the same day over and over again. I have seen a couple movies that do this as the whole idea of the movie however, the difference with mine is that it will happen in just the very beginning of the opening scene giving viewers more intriguing clips to look at. On the other hand, this idea could be so bad it crashes and burns... it might be to much to put into a two minute film

Throwing out random ideas

 - common theme of being repetitive

 - dark warm colors?

 - mystery? genre?

 -driving.. a chase..

 - voice over...

Tiny thoughts are in my mind are they good enough? is it actually a good idea? all going through my head at once

Music Marketing blog post #2

Hello Gomers,

It has been 24 hours after my group has successfully presented our music marketing project to the class. All went as planned and our presentation was thorough and flowed well. Looking back on my last blog post my group and I came so far, we created our new artist RYE and his backstory as well as how he got into music and what he wants to do with his life.

A little rundown of Rye is that he's a sophomore in collage who has been very exposed to various types of music and wants to share that with people who don't get to be exposed as much as he does. Throughout his life Rye's parents never allowed him to listen to the "pop" and "rock" culture of music which once he got to collage led him to fall in love with said music.

My group and I ended up shooting the music video at Cypress Bay High School because that is where we all go to school and could easily shoot the video together. The lighting and colors of Cypress matched Ryes vibe as well as looking like he is at his own collage campus. Our presentation represented Rye in a series of colors that matches Ryes aesthetic which in the end kept the audiences attention and intrigued them more because of the bright colors and rock aspect of it.

Overall this project was such an interesting experience. Creating a new person and mapping out how you will market them to the world keeping in mind all of the likes and dislikes many have when looking at upcoming artist and taking into consideration the ages and platforms you post on. It was cool to also work with others and not just myself. Hearing others ideas on what we could do to make our musician a jaw dropping sensation was incredible.

Until next time! Gom is out

Final Farewell

WHATS UP GOMERS! Its crazy to think this is my last blog post until...next year ;) This has been an amazing journey and I am so glad I could...
